trainfan22 Posted February 15, 2011 Share #326 Posted February 15, 2011 People hate Hybrids, because they have no raw diesel power. Heh, I used to hate hybrids for that reason, then I found out the ones that use the ISB engine is the same engine they use in the Dodge Ram diesel truck... Can't hate man, can't hate. Dodge Ram FTW!!!!

Cait Sith Posted February 16, 2011 Share #328 Posted February 16, 2011 As of today 1304 and 1306 are at Manhattanville, from what I've been hearing they're actually on the maintenance bay. Apparently they broke down (or something like that) right when the MTA pulled the plug on the order. 1302, 03 and 05 are also still at Quill on the roof with the rear hatch open. Infamous85 Posted February 16, 2011 Share #329 Posted February 16, 2011 I believe everything happens for a reason, who's to say they won't perfect it and get another shot eventually. I don't understand why they're okay elsewhere but not in NYC (and B'More?), what's the deal with that?

East New York Posted February 16, 2011 Share #332 Posted February 16, 2011 I think he meant the overseas models. Oh ok. Well those buses are built differently. They don't share any components with their American counterparts.

Joel Up Front Posted February 19, 2011 Share #334 Posted February 19, 2011 Was that spoiler just for show or did it actually give the bus downforce?

Grand Concourse Posted February 19, 2011 Share #337 Posted February 19, 2011 I missed something obviously. What happened on the M60? If this was a few years ago, then it was the incident where a DL bus couldn't handle the climb up the Triboro bridge.

traildriver Posted February 23, 2011 Share #341 Posted February 23, 2011 I was nearby the Quill Depot this afternoon and I noticed three of them parked on the roof deck on the 40th street side, closest to 11th avenue end.
jaredaggie Posted February 28, 2011 Share #342 Posted February 28, 2011 Dang, I was wanting to ride on one of these just for the experience. It is a pretty cool concept, albeit the buses were clearly junk. Last time i was in the city was November/December 2010 and I looked everywhere for the dang things. I drove my buddies crazy because they dont care about a bus. As I was headed to JFK to come home I see the 1304 on 42nd at Lex. I should have jumped off the bus and took a spin on it.
traildriver Posted March 1, 2011 Share #343 Posted March 1, 2011 I didn't get a chance to ride 'em either. I am a fan (pun intended) of turbine engines. Last bus I rode with it was a Greyhound MC-8 'Turbocruiser' back in the '70's, with an Allison GT engine and transmission that the US DOE sponsored in a ten-bus fleet that was part of an alternative energy experiment. I loved the sound they made, and the looks people on the street gave as they went by.
Cait Sith Posted March 1, 2011 Share #344 Posted March 1, 2011 1304 & 1306 no longer at Manhattanville, I think the same goes for MJQ's 1302-03 and 05. Well, it was fun while it lasted.....This thread deserves a proper locking since the project is dead. Pictures....at least the ones I can find at the moment. Videos... Interior vids on the M5 & M9 & sound clips....
