The only major differences between the R143 & R160 are the traction motors, inverter drives and slight weight differences.

R143:

Inverter Drive - Bombadier Powers AC Traction Motors

Traction Motor - Bombadier Model 150BC, 150 HP 3 Phase, 4 Pole

R160:

Inverter Drive - Alstom (R160A), Siemens (130 R160B)

Traction Motor - Alstom (R160A), Siemens (130 R160B)

The R143 and R160 look very Identical. The LED screen is slightly different and the R160 uses a refresh rate for its LED screen, resulting in slicing off of the LED screen when pictures are taken of it with a camera that has fast shutter speeds.

R143s and R160s have different Propulsion motors and door motors.

R143s and R160s have different strip maps

R143s and R160s have different color panels by the screen that show the next stop.

But yeah both trains are basicly the same except for the things I listed obove :P

I was discussing this with somebody on straphangers.org just this afternoon. I honestly can't tell the difference.

And to say the truth, the R142 also looks quite similar to the R143 and the R160, if you ask me.

The R142/A does not look nothing like the R143 and R160.

I guess I'll demostrate again.
