DNJ Posted March 23, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 23, 2010 LAKE BUENA VISTA -- Eight people were taken to local hospitals after a Disney bus rear-ended a tour bus. The Florida Highway Patrol said the accident happened around 2:15 p.m. at the entrance to Walt Disney World's Epcot theme park. The tour bus’ driver told Florida Highway Patrol troopers she was having mechanical issues with the bus, which is why she pulled over to take a look and that's when the crash happened. It's an area where buses don't normally stop. There were seven passengers on the Disney bus at the time of the crash. Four of those passengers were taken to Celebration Hospital. 15-year-old has been released 16-year-old has serious injuries 1 male has minor injuries 1 male is serious The other three were transported to Dr. Phillips Hospital. The conditions of an adult male, adult female and a child are not known at this time. Jean Valentin, 41, the Disney bus driver, was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center, but is also expected to be OK. There were no passengers on the tour bus at the time of the crash. On Tuesday evening, Disney released the following statement: "Safety is a cornerstone of our company and we are currently focused on the well being of those involved in the situation and we are working closely with law enforcement on this matter." FHP is still investigating why the crash happened and how fast the Disney bus was going. The speed limit in the area is 25 miles per hour.
