Ms. W Supporter Posted March 28, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 28, 2010 Unlike us New Yorkers, Japan sure takes its train fans seriously. These views are intended for the train enthusiest. Unlike New York's MTA, Japan's railways are run by many different companies. That takes the monopoly out...that's probably why those trains have more speedy service. ...there's a nice pic with a shinkansen and regular train in this link's page. http://blog.gaijinpot.com/culture/train-spotting-in-japan/7274/ More info of train fans and merchandise here: http://www.japantoday.com/category/lifestyle/view/for-fans-of-locomotives-it%E2%80%99s-full-steam-ahead
TrainFanatic Posted March 28, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 28, 2010 Interesting article. Thanks for sharing. It would be nice if their were hotels here in New York located right by train yards, dedicated for railfans. Ohhh...a railfans dream.

Yeah, that would be cool. ^^ Since the elevated trains are all in the outer boroughs, I'm sure there aren't any hotels in view of them...the only way you'll get this here is if you rent near an elevated/outside train.
