I have a $4or so metrocard thats on the back of an LIRR ticket, however the conductor punched thru the magnetic stripe, will it still work or did i just loose $4 today

It may or may not work, but you can always call MTA customer service, and they will tell you how to replace it if you want to.

Most likely, You have to mail it. That black stripe contains all the information. Conductor wasn't paying attention.
