An Animated Historical Map I Found

This map I dug up animates all the subway openings in chronological order. The eastern tip of the line is missing, but w/e.

If we slowed the animation down the years would blend into each other and it'd become more inaccurate.

OK, here you are. I slowed down the animations in two versions with different delays:

 

Subway History, 1 second delay

Subway History, 2 second delay <- may not display properly in your web browser, should be saved to disk first.

A similar, but not animated, map just posted at Second Ave Sagas shows the dates of each section of track. The map is from 1983 so it doesn't include the 63rd St or Archer Ave lines.

That's very informative.. But you have to admit, the animated map makes a nice visual presentation. If only they showed the sections of lines rebuilt and torn down.

Totally but I wish there was more information on the animated map in regards to dates so I really knew what I was watching.

The animanted map is actually a little old, I first saw it in september 07.

 

Oh well, not much really changed since then.
