Brighton Local Posted February 14, 2008 Share #2 Posted February 14, 2008 Probably just testing the functions that were repaired in Coney Island Yard/Shops. Maybe for the Pelham 123 movie?
Phil D. Posted February 14, 2008 Share #3 Posted February 14, 2008 They have been testing in that area for awhile now. They are just testing there because there is open track and its easy to get them over there from CI Yard.
trainfan22 Posted February 14, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted February 14, 2008 8817 came though on the line platform at stillwell. Then layed up at the line layup yard at CI.And the set i saw today was on the smith and 9th street local track. It seems like they are testing them out for the line.Like it comes from somewere in manthttan or queens. And another weird thing was it was only the T/O on the train. No other MTA workers were on the train.Something weird is going on with the R160s.... error46146 Posted February 14, 2008 Share #5 Posted February 14, 2008 well a few years ago i have seen R143's at the jamaica yard, so maybe this could have had something to do with it. the culver express tracks are train test tracks, there is a sign that says so at 18th Avenue station
N-Trizzy2609 Posted February 14, 2008 Share #6 Posted February 14, 2008 Actually, they are for the Pelham movie. They are NOT the main train in the movie but they are being used as a minor character like, they people just riding in the beginning. R160s only test on the Sea Beach line. Recently there were R68A in the area. This is one hell a filming!

Recently there were R68A in the area. This is one hell a filming!Uh no your wrong. They test R160s and R143s on those tracks. There was an R68A that was a re-route. It wasn't in service on the F/G. R143s test on the culver and the R160s tend to test up by smith and 9th streets. The culvers middle track is a CBTC test track for R143s. Why would they be testing trains that have already been tested for a movie?

Nothing is going on.... They always test the R160 on the Culver looking for propulsion problems, im sure there was more than just One T/O on that train it could have been Schoolcar as well. They have classes out. Or maybe T/O's getting R160 qualified because thats happening as well. You just cant "take" a train out of the yard by yourself and go up and down the road without permission dont work that way down here.
