Messino Posted April 19, 2010 Share #26 Posted April 19, 2010 Chinese craftsmenship = CRAP, thats why thell never make a car that can be sold in America. Their standards are garbage grade. Look at what happened to Toyota when they had parts made in Chinda.. Now they have to pay fines and recall their vehicles. They want to bring their boot leg, imitation, rip off expertise here so that way in a few years it brakes and kills people. They steal everything they have. The Chinese are proud of being shrewd rats..
Nexis4Jersey Posted April 19, 2010 Share #27 Posted April 19, 2010 Bombardier already has 2 plants in the northeast Barre,Vermont USA Plattsburgh NY USA Honestly is that really enough , we need at least 5 , and Siemen's , aswell as Rotem , and Talgo , lets face we are the only region that is fast tracking its plans for Restoration and Expansion of the Transit systems. And those plants would reduce the cost for imported Vehicles and Parts.

True, but no American company want to venture into that industry. There is a lot of money to be made here on rebuilding Americas railroads, which is why China wants in on it.The Japanese,French and Canadians are here so to them why not.And realistically look how all the American Manufacturers folded. Its either money or shoddy products.E.g Pullman standard-folded 1981-1982 Cause:R46 Rockwell Truck failures/Corruption/Various tech Issues St Louis Car Company-folded 1973 Cause:Finacial losses due to the R44 order,Numerous technical bugs.Basiaclly losing money for every car built Budd company/Transit America-Aquisition 1987-1988 Took on one last American order before being brought out by the Germans. Oh And Morrison Knudsen is gone too It may be a while before we get a serious US maufacturer again:(

Siemen's needs at least 1-2 plants ,Talgo could build a plant , Rotem can build a plant ,Bombardier can build 1-3 more plant's. But we will need them to offset the growing demand for Transit and Rail products.

Unfortunately Bombardier had to close a plant or two over the years.Oe would be Bombardier`s Auburn NY Plant.I dont think Bom is expanding here anytime soon.Kawasaki is getting in this year and they have two plants in the U.S and I think they are due for another plant.I said in the regional thread that Hyundai-Rotem should put more bids out here rather than just takin Philly,As well.Other companies like Tokyu rail car and Kinkyu-Sharyo should throw in bids for cars.Especially for Amtrak.
