Anyone Remembers this Bus?

In 2004-2005, Triboro Coach and Green Bus Lines bought a couple of RTS's from the MTA. They were repainted in pure white.

It's been a while ago, but what numbers were they given when the MTA took over TBC? I rode on on the Q53 a few years ago, that was a great ride.

Triboro 2001-2011 -> MTA 1848-1858

 

Green 1101-1111 -> MTA 1837-1847

I remember them; I shot one as late as winter 2007. On the Q18.

I remember seeing those buses around. They were purchased from the after being retired. Green Lines had ex-3503 a 1984 model which was later renumbered 1837 when the took over. If I remember correctly that was the oldest bus to survive the takeover.

I remember seeing the Green Lines ones drive down Rockaway Blvd for the Q7. I've seen probably one of the Triboro buses too. I've also seen some of them in 2007 still all white with MTA logos.

I remember riding in them during eighth grade. Probably the best buses Triboro ever had that I rode.

I never saw these... but I remember alot of buses in the 1100's at FR. All of a sudden one day they were gone :eek:.

 

Not to be off-topic, but FR currently has one RTS from LGA (it is a 9300 #). I saw it turning on the Q21 by Queens Center Mall. Yes, I was foa- .

Academy &/or (NJT) had those "albinos" too. Several years ago now some of CSI's Loop Buses were Academy & (NJT) {via Academy} "albinos".

 

I've seen them used by other agencies/companies too.

they were probably part of the few RTS's that came standard with the ZF Ecomat transmission...they were really fast...

I think they weren't painted because they knew MTA takeover was going to come soon. There were a few more PBL buses that had no paint way before these buses came in 2004 such as GBL Orion V 5542 and a Triboro Orion V CNG. What was the point of painting for sometthing that will end pretty soon?

Triboro and Green Lines needed them more because by that time their GMC RTS's were complete garbage, the TMC's and MCI's were coming to be the same, and the Orions were okay. By that time Jamaica Buses hasn't got any new buses since they borrowed some 1993-1994 TMC's from Green Lines and Queens Surface to retire the Grummans in 2000. Their buses were in good shape. It would be weird if Jamaica Buses got these and didn't paint them because there would be a garage full of brown and Red buses and then White buses next to those.
