Amtrak7 Posted April 18, 2010 Share #5 Posted April 18, 2010 How did that happen? The signal system is supposed to keep trains apart.

gregorygrice Posted April 19, 2010 Author Share #9 Posted April 19, 2010 How did that happen? The signal system is supposed to keep trains apart. Well the M3 had already let it people off and the M7 still had passengers inside so I guess they decided to move the M3 up alittle to the yard signal and let the M7 release its passengers. This resulted in both trains still on the platform:
DOB2RTO Posted April 19, 2010 Share #10 Posted April 19, 2010 Lol! You never see that everyday. I've seen on the (NYCT) subway though. At 42 St between Locals and at W4 St between Locals . Unlike them, we have stop arms on our signals. We can't ever ride that close, but some of the signals have been updated on the Lex Line, to let you come into a station while another train is just outside the station. If need be, they will let us key into the station, if another train is in there. But there has to be a good reason for them to tell us to do that............ HomeBall Posted April 21, 2010 Share #16 Posted April 21, 2010 Two train "stacked" on the same platform happens once in a while. It all depends on where you are and what rules are in effect.
