It's necessarily, because that's what many tourists are going to use if they go to Athens. And many tourists don't understand the Greek language very well. Romanising the station names and providing signage in English allows tourists to get around easily like locals. This practice is also done in Russia, India and Asian countries.

The women in Greece are very attractive. Another beautiful European transit system.

Athens also has a nice light rail network. Let's see if our friend can get some pics on that. It runs from the southeast suburbs into Athens proper, IIRC. The stock is similar to the one currently being used in Florence.
