R160s to the (M) and R160s, R42s and maybe R32s to the (J)(Z). I did hear something about R143s to the (J) but I don't know much about that.

That's be stupid, they don't even have those R160s set aside for the (L) equipped for ATO yet.

I heard the same thing with maybe R32's coming out East due to the fact the (M)ikey will need a few more sets for service than they have now...

I would not mind seeing R32s on the (J) but I don't have to operate them. I hear that the (:) crews hate the R32 that has been on the (B) the last few months.

I agree, throw them into the ocean already!

They are mechanically sound cars, all they need is a new coat of paint. But sadly they seem to be another class of cars that will die on the Eastern Div. just like the R1/9s.

It's kinda 50/50. At Bedford Park Boulevard many of the crew men in the tower south of the station get that WTF look on their face because they don't like it, but the day I caught it (couple weeks ago) the T/O we had was a former (E) operator who was assigned 32s and didn't mind it at all. But the dispatcher at Brighton Beach acts like a real b!tch and won't let the train run all day...not like I have a problem with it but one time I recall seeing an R68 (B) train being taken out and then the 32 got taken out right after...there wasn't even anything on the other track that was boarding passengers.

In another five years yeah but we need them to make service right now.

They really should've kept the R40Ms. At least those looked 'decent'.

Agreed, the R40Ms ran and looked better than the 42s. IDK why they retired them like that but it's a done issue now. What we have is staying.

You should see some of the comments left in the suggestion box by (B) crews at CIY.

I seriously don't know what is everyone's gripe with the 42s. I understand they look bad but they run fine and at least their frames aren't rotting like it's counterpart St. Louis car successor. I get blasted every time I post a video of an R42 (J) train on YouTube because the poster doesn't like them so he has nothing better to do than broadcast his hate on them by commenting on EVERY SINGLE R42 video on YouTube.

Besides, if they're going to be sticking around for another five years work will have to be done on them so they won't look like an eyesore. Other than that I still like them and they make my top three favorite car classes.

Boy, I can only imagine.

At least I haven't heard anything about griping passengers.

If it's the same poster, just block him. I do the same to anyone that talks negative on my vids.

What's so special about the new R-160 subway cars, not trying to sound ignorant here.

These cars represent the last of the R160 order. The 4 car sets 8313-8652 were the first Alstom deliveries which went to the Eastern division in 2007-2008. 8653-8712 (8653-8662 being the first Alstom delivery for testing) were 5 car Alstom sets which went to CI for service on the N,Q,W and then Alstom delivered 5 car sets 9233-9802 starting in late 2008 which went to Jamaica. The 32 cars 9943-9974 have now been or will shortly be delivered. If not for the early retirement of the R44's, delivery of these cars would have meant retirement of all pre-1970 cars, the remaining R42's (64 cars) and R32's (about 220 cars total)

Kawasaki delivered some more cars last week. Not only did I see them on Broadway (I was leaving 240st yards), Highway 1 who was escorting them in NYC (NYPD Highway unit), had us go through a red light at VCP South at Bailey Ave, so those trucks could make their wide turn. Would have taken a pic, but I don't want to be the cause of anyone, creaming their pants...........

They also delivered cars last night. I see them all the time at the toll plaza on the NJ side of the George Washington Bridge. They park them there during the day and then drive them over the birdge at night.

They're the only ones on the new (M) because the R32/42s don't have the (M) bullet and have both Met Av and 71 Av as north terminals. The 160's sign flexibility makes it the choice for the (M).

They could also sign it up as (M2) but the southern designation would have to give a blank reading or read "special" (don't know if they're on there).
