"Former Giants great Lawrence Taylor was arrested Thursday in Rockland County in connection with the rape of a 15-year-old Bronx girl, sources said.

Taylor allegedly beat and sexually assaulted the girl - a runaway whose rendezvous with the NFL great at a hotel in Montebello, N.Y.. was arranged by a pimp, a police source said.

On the drive back to the city, the girl was able to contact an uncle who called the cops and took her to a hospital for an examination, the source said.

Taylor, 51, was arrested early Thursday after police knocked on his door at the Holiday Inn of Suffern, the source said.

"L.T." will be arraigned Thursday afternoon on a third-degree rape charge, which involves having intercourse with a minor, the Town of Ramapo Police said.

Taylor, 51, lives in Pembroke Pines, Fla., but is believed to also have a home in New Jersey. He frequently drives up to Rockland County to play golf."

Why L.T. would due such a thing? I used liked him when he played for the Giants.

Not a great few weeks for the NFL. First the league's most popular player other than Peyton Manning, "Big Ben' is suspened for bad judgement in an accused sexual assult case that was dropped. Now maybe the best defensive player in NFL History is charged with raping a teenage girl.

If the charges are true, I hope LT is sent to jail for long time. It's one thing to pay for sex with an adult 21 years old & above(which i think should be legal since it's only 1 step above legalized strip clubs and XXX movies but the prostitution issue is for another discussion later)but for an underage girl?

Agreed and to have paid a pimp 300 dollars for underage girl with a black eye and have sex with her allegedly is dispicable.

If he wanted to get some he could've gone to Vegas where it's legal.

Actually only the Reno area is where escorts/call girls are legal in Nev. provided they are 18 years or older and registered. While it's illegal in LV, the Vegas Police most of the time 'look the other way' except if it involved underage girls.

In some states 16 is of legal age. Class E felony is the most serious charge he is facing, yet if convicted he would only get 4 years in prison and with time off for good behavior be out in just 2 years. And with the type of lawyers he will have representing him....well you know the outcome.

This guy is in the Hall of Fame, but Pete Rose *for gambling is banned for life? UnF'ing believeable.

*before any smartasses says it: yes I know they are different sports, but my point still stands.

Call me a smart@@s lol,:( but seriously Pete Rose is no saint either. He went to jail for a year or so about 10-15 years ago for income tax fraud to the IRS for hiding profits he made at sports(baseball card and collectible industry)that was estimated to be hundred of thousands of dollars. So Mr. Rose is also a felon.

Imo: I don't concider athletes as 'heroes'. That term has been abused. Cops and firefighters are heros. The only time I'd concider an athlete a hero when they help their local communities thru charity works and such.

Well said Concourse and Andrew Johnson aka r68. My parents taught me, it was ok to admire atheletes or other celebrities but to never worship or idolized them. If I have kids, that the way i will expect them to do whether movie, music or sports stars.

And back to Mr. Taylor, (I don't think he deserves the "LT" nickname anymore)

this is a sad fall for a guy who is handsome, had the world at his feet, made alot of money and was considered among the best ever to play in the NFL, winning the super bowl twice.

Just another former jock who could never adjust to the rest of his life following his playing career. Last and most important joins the likes of Dwight Gooden and other sports stars who are living troubled life as a middle aged man.:P

who in their right ever-loving mind ever viewed Lawrence Taylor as a hero?

He was a dominant linebacker that played on the NY football Giants... that's all I ever saw him as.

For what it's worth, Not once have I EVER viewed an athlete as a role model.... Matter fact, I read this post... sat back & thought about it... Nope, never, not even as a kid said, felt, or thought: "I wanna be just like _________ when I grow up"....

Know why...

Because all it takes is one f*** up for your supposed "role model" to have engaged in, or have done... and you'll feel like a fool for having ever chosen him/her as a role model - That is, if you're honest with yourself; a rare trait nowadays....

Kobe Bryant... "no, not him"

Michael Jordan... "no, not him"

Alex Rodriguez... "no, not him"

Tiger Woods... "no, not him"

I don't care how great an athlete is, in his sport of choice.... there is ZERO correlation b/w his athletic abilities, and his character... the two do not link... at all.

As for Lawrence Taylor? let's face it, this guy looks like the type that frequents bars/night clubs/places where you're more apt to get into trouble... Worse, he has a history of legal problems.... The fact that he supposedly raped this 16 year old prostitute, and judging on how vociferous & defiant his lawyer is, in public, in Taylor's defense, only proves how troubled Taylor is....

I can't find myself feeling sorry for him, or that girl....

B35, I never did call Mr. Taylor a hero. I am not even a NFL Giants fan.:o

With that said on serious topic, this is another guy who life is ruins because not only drugs but also never has grown up somewhat and realize he not a 21-22 year young man anymore. In other words make the adjustment to something else besides the NFL.

While i dont feel sad for him personally, I do feel bad on and this is an example of someone even a HOF player screwing up their life.

There's a difference between sex and rape. Tiger and A-Rod simply wanted to get their freak on. Kobe, on the other hand, (allegedly) raped a woman in a hotel (why does sh*t always happen in a hotel?). MJ was simply a compulsive gambler.

Well sure Tiger and A-Rod cheated on their wives and that's not as bad as hiring an underaged prostitute, but that doesn't make them ideal role models either. You can appreciate what they do on the field, but as far as that don't look up to them for off the field activities.
