LRG Posted May 13, 2010 Share #30 Posted May 13, 2010 Then, time to roll out the duct tape! Lol, something similar to the sort was used to hold the bonnets of the Slants to the car body itself!
St Louis Car 09 Posted May 13, 2010 Share #31 Posted May 13, 2010 Yup he's right. Like if a train has a dead motor they're not going to fix it. ALSO (be prepared), at the pace things are going right now, there's a possibility that they'll be off the road by NEXT MONTH! NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! DAMN YOU !!!!! St Louis Car 09 Posted May 13, 2010 Share #34 Posted May 13, 2010 It is what it is. Its a sad sight and it would be another month before I can head down to the city to try and snag a pic.I always wondered why the R44 stainless steel bodie looked like it had wrinkles and dimples compared to the R46 smooth exterior. Art Vandelay Posted May 13, 2010 Share #36 Posted May 13, 2010 2 were completely undamaged. 2 were almost completely undamaged. 2 were fairly damaged but repairable 2 would probably have been scrapped, even if new.
Urbanfortitude Posted May 13, 2010 Share #37 Posted May 13, 2010 NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! DAMN YOU !!!!! I don't like it either but I don't think I could bare to watch the 44s fall apart anymore than they already have. I'm just going to enjoy my time left with them and try to accept change. Princelex Posted May 13, 2010 Share #38 Posted May 13, 2010 I have to take the after work today so I hope that I catch an R44. I was on the Sunday and it was the first time that I rode R46's in both directions on that line. I guess I have to start getting used to that. bklyntekgeek Posted May 16, 2010 Share #39 Posted May 16, 2010 I did that Friday on my way to work. I didn't get on the R-46 ahead. I decided to wait for the next arriving A train to Manhattan at Grant Ave. for the R-44. Right behind it, was what I was waiting for. Being able to have what may be the last ride with the R-44 before they go. I'm gonna be sad when they're gone because they been a huge part of my life on the A. Just glad I was able to take some pics and video on my phone at least before they're gone.
Amtrak7 Posted May 16, 2010 Share #40 Posted May 16, 2010 Forgive my ignorance, but are the R44's going to be reefed or scrapped?
