WMATA Posted May 23, 2010 Share #8 Posted May 23, 2010 (M2)etro looks (F)oxie:tup::tup: those 3000's ,How old are those trains and what does the new trains look like? The 3000 series were delivered around 1987-1988; 290 were built. They were rehabbed by Alstom back in '05. The newest cars in the fleet are the 6000 series built by Alstom. Those were delivered in 2006. The large numbers (which I hate) atop the cab windows basically identify the railcar series. Although, with the exception of the 2000 and 3000 series (post rehab), each car in the rolling stock is easily distinguishable. The 7000 series is next in line and Kawasaki is the builder.
