Railfan windows on R68/A

I have this book with pics of subway cars.I was looking though it the other day.And i saw this pic it look. Like the corner cab was the first car.So did the R68/A have railfan windows. when they first came into service?

 

Im only 16 so i wasnt born yet when the R68/A first came into service.

I remember seeing a pic like that too...I think it was a (D) at Dekalb Avenue...

what does the MTA have against railfan windows that they must eliminate them?

 

Maybe they just care so much about T/O's that they want to give them more space inside the cab.
