Question about ng 3800

Orion VII 4474

Recommended Posts

So 3800 is out there, i thought (MTA) sent it back to orion.

3800 was the pilot bus for the order. Shortly after the 2008 Roadeo, MTA sent the bus back to Orion for modifications. 3802 ended up coming in as the first production bus while 3800 and 3801 were delivered after they were remodified to MTA specs.

IINM, 3800 was originally 1295, a demo, that came back as 3800. I could be wrong.

1295 was actually a 2007 model that was used to build the pilot, which is 3800. After it went through its testing, Orion used all the data they had gathered, then they built 3800 from scratch, and it actually had to be modified 3 times before the TA approved it. That's why 3802 showed up first because it was road ready, whereas 3800 and 3801 had to be modified to the finalized MTA specs.

3800 is still in service only on the M16/34 since that bus along with 3801-3829 has GPS on it for the 34 St crosstown line. It announces each stop.

I see like once a week going to work
