Well, more like, they could lay up one set on the outer loop and turn trains on the inner.

That's one of the reasons why one can't ride a terminating train after Bowling Green.

Grand Concourse Posted June 12, 2010 Share #30 Posted June 12, 2010 Does the schedule even necessitate that? It doesn't. Both loops do not need to be used at the same time. Plus even if they ran two trains on both loops, one of them will still have to wait for the other to leave, so it's not really saving any time. I also hope someone that works on the or any IRT line/tower can fill us in about the loop.
LRG Posted June 12, 2010 Share #31 Posted June 12, 2010 From what I was told, the inner loop was severed and the uses the outer loop cuz it causes less strain on the never R142s. Really? That sounds odd. But it's near impossible to find out as we can't really go around it.
Grand Concourse Posted June 12, 2010 Share #32 Posted June 12, 2010 I find it odd about the inner loop being severed, but I do understand the point about using the outer loop as being less of a strain for the R142s - breaks, suspensions, etc.
EE Broadway Local Posted June 13, 2010 Share #33 Posted June 13, 2010 trains to Bowling Green use the Inner Loop in turning around it is confirmed.
