The officer is trying to arrest a perp, perps friend grabs the officers hands off the perp and then pushes the LEO? Yes, appropriate force was used. You don't assault a police officer.

give me a effing break, arresting jaywalkers? Nah son.. Aint no cops putting their hands on me for jay walking. You cant arrest someone for jaywalking its not a crime..The woman was defending her friend from police abuse of authority... NO COP CAN PUT THEIR HANDS ON ME FOR JAYWALKING... This is why no one respects cops and people sh#t on them..Cops need to worry about crimes, not people jaywalking..The cop was the one who deserved to get a punch to the face..

I don't care a grown ass adult has no right to punch a 17 year old child in the face. He was overreacting in the first place and then when she tries to break it up she gets punched in the face. I hope somebody beats the s*** out of him while he's off duty (or on duty). I hate police brutality and they wonder why people hate them.

She has no authority to "break it up", once a LEO goes to arrest someone and you put your hands on the LEO, you're interfering with his duties to enforce the law. You also don't go and shove the LEO. If you take it upon yourself to act in that manner, expect to face the consequences.

Police have no right to arrest someone for jaywalking, at most its a ticket since jaywalking isnt against any civil or criminal law, its a code infraction.

90% of the cops are just power tripping roid rage freaks.

Which if that's the case, the judge will toss it out. Judging from the video, I would say she was arrested for something else, disorderly conduct; resisting arrest. Something along that line.

Who gets arrested for Jay Walking? The cop was overreacting. But never mind that, they were going back and forth for a while, if he wanted to arrest her he could've, like you're a cop and can't restrain a 17 year old girl? It was getting ridiculous then the other girl who I think was trying to calm her down tried to intervene then gets punched in the face by the "female-dog donkey" cop who later claims he was trying to defend himself, mind you she wasn't attacking him she was just trying to break them up.

Bottom line he shouldn't have been trying to arrest her, she shouldn't have resisted arrest, and I'm on the fence about her trying to break it up. However he was very wrong for punching her in the face.

So it's fine for her to assault the officer by shoving him? How does the cop know they don't have any weapons? The cop acted on what he knew, which was that perp #2 had become aggressive and had shoved him. Things can quickly go wrong.

That's why I'm on the fence about it, plus it didn't look like she was shoving him at all to me, I thought she was breaking them up while the cop and the other girl were going back and forth.

Not too long ago I heard the cops in Seattle were over using that Jay Walking nonsense as an excuse to arrest people and some even using excessive force, then I see something like this happen. Like how does it go from Jay Walking to a fight with an officer.

Good point right there, it could be seen as a self-defence measure.

He was definitely out of order he was merely pushed he has no restraint what so ever he should not be on anyones police force that was bad judgement on his behalf and then the police department has nerve to say it's within the guidelines who's guidelines they must be looking to be put under federal review

The woman chose to escalate the situation. If she had listened to the LEO's instructions, there wouldn't have been any confrontation.

While interacting with the man, Walsh observed four women jaywalking at the same location and ordered them to step over to his cruiser, police said. The department described the women as being "verbally antagonistic toward the officer."

One of the women began to walk away and appeared to raise her hand in a dismissive gesture after being ordered to step over to the car, police said.

Walsh escorted the woman back to the cruiser, but she then started to yell at him and pull away, "breaking free of the officer's grip several times," police said

Typical and disturbing.
Certain cops I respect I.E. Highway,Mounted and ESU beat cops get no love like the one in the video cause they are the ones that typically show people no respect thinking they can talk to people any kind of way

Haha, you respect ESU, HWY and MU, but you don't respect the cop walking a beat? Those HWY guys are even bigger hard-asses than most cops and would write their own mothers; if you ever have to deal with ESU it's because you're f**ked. Ordinary POs are the ones who are going to make a difference when you're up shits' creek, you're a city employee, you should f**king know better than to post garbage like that.

No, that was inappropriate force. Unnecessary force. As the matter of fact that cop was a pussy for punching that girl in the face like that. I would have dropped her on her ass and cuffed her but not punch her.

He managed that situation poorly and therefore questions whether or not he has the ability to be an officer. The officer displayed poor judgement and problem solving abilities.

And for the record, my cousin is a cop, my brother-in-laws brother is a cop, my cousins wife's brother is a cop, my aunt is a retired cop, I have three friends that I grew up with that are now cops. If my cousin or friends ever did that I would call them a pussy too.

I don't know the law codes of Washington State but if that were in New York I know for a fact that shit wouldn't fly, especially for something as petty as jaywalking. Shit, I'd be furious too. I wouldn't lash out on the cop in no way but if the cop is making an arrest over something as petty as jaywalking then he must not have enough spare time on his shoulders.

And people wonder why crime is at a all-time high. The video is the exact reason why. Cops are looking to pinch people for the littlest shit yet when something huge happens they're sitting ducks.

Neither of them were arrested for Jaywalking.

The 19-year-old woman who allegedly grabbed Walsh's arm was booked for investigation of assault on an officer, police said. The other woman, who police said was 17, was booked for obstructing an officer. Both suspects were also cited for jaywalking.

Also, 1990s NYPD & Mayor Giuliani would like to have a word with you about NYC not doing anything about Jaywalking.
