Most of the equipment has trolley poles. Cars that don't have poles are run with a stinger (600V extension cord*). There are 45mph sections of the line.

* the line has a nominal voltage of 550VDC, real voltage of 562VDC from the substation

You are such a nerd.

A few questions:

1) Those things are run off trolley poles, right?

2) If so, is the speed limit low, like maybe 10?

And to get up there, I have to pay out the heinie. Bloomin' Metro-North.

1-Yes, power is from overhead trolley wire so you do not have to worry about third rail.

2-The speed limit is however fast or slow your instructor tells you to go.

Why would you think they only go 10 mph?

Nope, won't make July RT weekend. I'll see if I can make an appearance in August.

Too bad, I will try and make it up there a few weekends in July. Let me know when your going up, if you go up on any Saturdays let me know.
