Question about the (B)(N)(Q)

ok, as we all know that the R68A's started appearing on the (N) again, and supposedly the (Q) is going to be entirely R160s, which isn't true because i spotted an R68A (Q) train today around 9pm at Beverley Rd heading to Coney Island from Astoria...anywho, id like to find out more or less how many sets of trains (R68/R68A/R160) does the (:P(N)(Q) uses on a weekday, weekend and late night basis?

i did a count on the R68A's. There are 200 R68A cars, total of 25 sets. Cant they split the R68A's on the (:P(N)(Q) lines? For Example:

8 R68A sets on the (:P

8 R68A sets on the (N)

8 R68A sets on the (Q)

_________________

24 total sets, with one R68A set remaining for any of the 3 lines.

The (N)(Q) will continue to use R160's, and the (B) will continue to use regular R68's as well.

The main questions are, how many sets of trains (R68/R68A/R160) does the (B)(N)(Q) uses on a weekday, weekend and late night basis? and, can they split the R68A 8 sets each for the (B)(N)(Q)?

Keep in mind you must factor in spares per each line. They don't use up all the trains in the yard.

It's also been stated that the (Q) having 2 set terminals will need to be 100% R160s. So why leave R68/as on the (Q)? Just put them on the (N). Lines don't have to be mixed. Look at the (C), (D) and (E), nothing but one train type.

the (D) doesnt really count because its based out of Concourse, (C) is based out of Pitkin and 207, and (E) from Jamaica. the (E) doesnt always use R160s. ive taken a few R46's on the (E) recently. i meant more for Coney Island yard. (:P(N)(Q) is based out of Coney Island, why use all R160's on the (Q) when u have enough R68A's to go on there as well? and if anything, the (:P should be the one with the R160's because of the sign change during rush hours. The (Q) only changes its signs on nights and weekends.

My point was there are lines where they run nothing but one train type. So what's the big deal about having the (Q) mixed as it was before? Just ride the (N) if you want the mix.

The (:P has rush hours and then middays [plenty of time to change the signs].

The (Q) [which I doubt will run all trains to Astoria as they have more than the (W) had] during the rush hours might short turn before Astoria-ditmars [like 57/7th]. And that terminal will still have once in a while swaps b/w an (N) and (Q). So R160s makes more sense on just those 2 lines.

cuz its pointless to get them off one line to operate on another when they were doing perfectly fine from where they were. they shouldve just left the R68A's on the (Q) for good. the R160s started off on the (N), they shouldve left it the way it was.

i didnt kno that. i thought they stopped that car swapping thing since the (W) was gone??

Why is it stupid? If a train is delayed, they have to send the next train in place of it or everything gets backed up. It makes perfect sense.

i think its stupid because yes, like u said, if a train is delayed then they have to send the next one in place of it, but wat about the other train? Example: The (N) is delayed, they would have to send the next (Q) in place of it, But, doesn't that mean the (Q) will also get delayed because of this?? wont both lines get delayed?

You need to expand your thinking and not everything is just good or bad. There's a purpose to things. - just saying.

im just saying my ideas. i aint saying everything has to be perfect. it was just a thought.

As a former (2) rider, I've seen this happen countless times with the (2)(5) swapping trains. It's better to delay both slightly than to delay one line longer. So why you can't see the 'big picture' is beyond me.

ex: Say you are a brighton line rider, would you rather wait twice as long for a (Q) train just so the (N) can run without delays or would you like to wait a bit less if the delay was distributed evenly? Think about it.

I'm not being tough on you, I just want you to think about stuff before you just assume it is 'good or bad'.
