Hi everyone. I am 30yrs old with 2 lil boys ages 1 & 2 and I now reside in Brooklyn. I'm very interested in learning new things here at the forum. I've been trying to get a job with the MTA for years and still came up negative. Please help.

Hi Temptress. First you have to decide for yourself what part of the mta you want to get into. Trains, buses, cleaning, Mechanic etc. Go with whatever experience you may have. If you have no experience, my suggestion would be a bus operator. If you want to see whats available for the MTA, here is the link.

That is a list. Now the one I suggest to you, is "station agent". It's the people that sit in a booth and give out metro cards in a subway, and tell people where to go. Not a bad job for 17.65 an hour. It goes up to over 24 bucks an hour. The date to apply actually started today. Here is a direct link to the information

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask here at this forum: Transit Career Info & Questions Forum

I am here to help.

hi

I worked for the bus's for 22 years, if you love to drive thats the place to go. it's like playing with a new toy and getting paid for it. once your appointed and out on your own there are several depots that you can eather when you first start get assigned to of pick into once you get enough senority, There is fresh pond which is in queens but is concidered brooklyn division , jachey gleasson ,flatbush, east new york, elmwood park and so on depending which you live near.
