EE Broadway Local Posted July 1, 2010 Share #1 Posted July 1, 2010 If Lefferts Boulevard and Liberty Avenue is actually in Richmond Hill, why does the TA give the nod to neighboring Ozone Park on the signs at the station? Shouldn't they read Richmond Hill-Lefferts Boulevard ? Maybe this is kind of like the Dyckman Street (200th Street) station mystery on the in Inwood. (Dyckman even has different building numbers than West 207th and West 190th Streets do.)
SevenEleven Posted July 1, 2010 Share #2 Posted July 1, 2010 Richmond Hill is the unofficial name of the neighborhood. It's actually is Ozone Park & South Ozone Park respectively. When purchasing stuff online and on your mail over here, it's Ozone Park.

Has a completely different zip code from Richmond Hill and is past the Richmond Hill border line.
T to Dyre Avenue Posted July 3, 2010 Share #5 Posted July 3, 2010 Why not just call the station Lefferts Boulevard, like they used to in the past? Most people call the station by its street name. Why did they start having neighborhood names precede the street names at most terminal stations? And why do they come before the street name instead of after? For example, why is it "Ozone Park - Lefferts Blvd" instead if "Lefferts Blvd - Ozone Park"? It used to be "Ditmars Blvd - Astoria" now it's "Astoria - Ditmars Blvd." Why? Don't most people say the street name first followed by the neighborhood?
LRG Posted July 3, 2010 Share #6 Posted July 3, 2010 AFAIK, Richmond Hill is more northern where the (J)/(Z) are, especially by the 121st Street station. The Q55 terminates at Myrtle and Jamaica Avenues, which is...Richmond Hill, Queens.

Slightly Off-Topic (maybe): I think both (maybe) 85th Street-Forest Parkway and 80th (Hudson) Street are in Woodhaven while both (maybe) 111th Street and 111th (Greenwood) Street are in Richmond Hill. TOURQuarterback12 Posted July 13, 2010 Share #8 Posted July 13, 2010 I noticed all the major stops and terminating stops have neighborhood names but why not add some like Chinatown-Canal Street?

553 Bridgeton Posted July 13, 2010 Share #10 Posted July 13, 2010 Thier sign shop charges by the letter. Seriously, thought, Canal street isn't the only subway station in chinatown, why should it get all the glory. Well you figure Canal St is a toursit location and is smack in Chinatown. TOURQuarterback12 Posted July 14, 2010 Share #12 Posted July 14, 2010 Instead of a Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd and a Far Rockaway Mott Ave why not have Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd and Far Rockaway Mott Ave . So people dont get confused because this is the only line that extends out to 2 last stops in different directions (aside from the Dyre Av adn Eurid Ave ), never mind 3 possible terminating stops with rush hour at Rockaway Park(S)

bstar1 Posted July 14, 2010 Share #17 Posted July 14, 2010 riders from Lefferts/Far Rockaway both have equal one seat ride on the express, except for Rockaway Park with only five rushhour (A)'s. Lefferts riders wouldn't want to board a local train to transfer to an express. What I think they should do is to rename one of the (A)s, to distinguish the difference. Maybe they bring back or , which ever letter you choose one will run out of Lefferts Blvd, will continue to serve the Rockaways. or will follow the same schedule as from Lefferts.
