If I'm taking pics - it's while riding shotgun. And thats holding a DSLR with one hand trying to focus. I'm not doing that again. I felt it was a good moment, not an angle achived by most here but it is dangerous. so don't try that at home leave it to the professionals  Tricky stuff.Better if you were stuck in traffic.More opportunity that way.You should film a car chase on the highway one day. No cause that day I will forget my camera and only have a shitty cell phone camera. Great shots Dan! Rutgers Tube Posted July 8, 2010 Share #18 Posted July 8, 2010 Here we go again. . . . Another one of these inattentive truckers who miss clearance signs and are too busy messing around with their air ride seats and engine retarders and trolley valves and CB's and playing defibrillator with the glad hands while they offtrack over some little old lady on the corner and take out a crosswalk sign and Zip Car in the process. . . . Nice shots, Dan. BTW: I just got word that Caterpillar stopped producing truck engines and they're sticking to heavy machinery applications. I'm a Cummins fan myself - what's your take? Mack still sucks.
Grand Concourse Posted July 8, 2010 Share #19 Posted July 8, 2010 Hey Dan, I wonder if they have like some small 'swivel mount' where you can place your camera on and just point and shoot? that would be pretty cool

Rutgers Tube Posted July 8, 2010 Share #21 Posted July 8, 2010 Yea I heard about that, I don't know if its 100% true but International has taken over that field or something. Thanks for the comments. Actually, from what I understand, it's only a temporary cessation in production for highway and hauling applications. Still, I'm not a fan of Cats, Detroit, or Macks. I've seen the Navistars go hit and miss: they seem to run well if you don't get a runt engine (or a runt operator), but we've had a bunch of issues with low oil pressure, fuel tank corrosion, and EBP sensor recalls which mess up the turbo actuators and cause some sick power loss with the DT-466's. What powertrain did you say that you have? I know you have an Eaton 18-speed. FYI: Caterpillar got into the rail industry back in 2006 when they acquired Progress Rail Services. You may or may not have heard about this already, but for all interested parties, here is the link: Progress Rail Services They actually have a few facilities in NJ, so if anyone lives nearby or gets the chance to visit, I'd like to see pictures. But those were nice shots, Dan. Pretty clear considering everyone was in motion.
