A Newsreel Report from 1955 and a Television Commercial from 1964-1965 feature the el and subway. Short, interesting, 2 minute 39 second newsreel report on the closing of the Third Avenue El on Thursday May 12, 1955 - nice archival quality and sound.

 

 

 

Then, in 1964-1965, in a tie-in with the World's Fair, the TA advertised the new R33-R36 WF IRT subway cars in this interesting 1 minute 7 second television commercial - nice music the commercial used. See these cars when they were brand new on the Flushing Line.
