aemoreira81 Posted July 13, 2010 Share #26 Posted July 13, 2010 If the MTA didn't scrap too many buses we wouldn't be in this predicament. Great, just great, I bet those at Bee-Line are laughing their heads off because the Orion 5s they shipped off is now someone else's problem and not theirs. Woo-hoo!!! However, the buses that were scrapped were even older (except for the 1995-6 O5s, but those had even worse rot problems). The MTA was expecting 2 years out of those buses. bstar1 Posted July 13, 2010 Share #27 Posted July 13, 2010 That's why Baisley Park should've kept the RTS's, instead of receiving ex-beeline buses. Also the same for Laguardia, they should've never received those ex-beeline buses. The should've also kept RTS GMC, but too late they're gone. Grand Concourse Posted July 13, 2010 Share #28 Posted July 13, 2010 You're kidding, right? LaGuardia is the WORST depot in all of Queens! Are you forgetting that their CNG facility went literally smoking back in 2006 and they took it away? Again, they were taking out the CNG facility and then the accident happened. You got the order mixed up. Agreed with everyone that the MTA retired the RTSs too soon. [Like the R32s on the subways, the RTSs were true work horses and they could've been kept longer so that this mess would not be as bad as it is.] I still don't blame the MTA for taking those ex-BL buses as they expected 2 years from them and they were supposedly decent enough to run. Hell of a lot cheaper than to by a NG at the time. Unrelated to this, but I saw a 5900 O5 on the Q35 on Saturday, it was cool to see an O5 diesel on FB Av again. Sucks that it passed by too fast for me to get a pic of it.

T J Trainman Posted July 13, 2010 Share #30 Posted July 13, 2010 It looks like the Bee Lines cant handle the rough NYC streets or what have you. This is sad I liked them. 138 was decent when it ran.
East New York Posted July 13, 2010 Share #31 Posted July 13, 2010 Bp is in the gutter , they have 102 buses they are crap , b.s bus depot lol they need to shut down thats all i gotta say . Jamaica Buses? God I'm really getting old! With the exception of minor improvements, the only thing that has changed is the name! They are still pbl's masked in livery! We still have a way to go! Hold on to your hard blue seats!

And BP's exBL O5's are among the smoothest buses I've ever ridden, they have good brakes too. BP isn't the worst Depot at all, most depots go through bad stages, I remember not too long ago (maybe 5+ years) when JAM RTSs used to drop like flies to the point where I was accustomed to their buses breaking down. Imo even JBL rivaled QS for the best PBL as far as maintenance. GL was the worst by far followed by TC.
Grand Concourse Posted July 14, 2010 Share #41 Posted July 14, 2010 Yup, pretty much correct. I never understood why when MTA Bus got JBL, they moved the ex-NYCT RTSs there than to keep the JBL buses there and move a few that were no longer needed for express service and send LGA and the ex-GL depots the ex-NYCT buses. East New York Posted July 14, 2010 Share #42 Posted July 14, 2010 What is point of having headquarters in depot? Because it's a central location that handles ops for the borough/division. In the case of Queens, two depots share these duties.

Nova RTS 9147 Posted July 14, 2010 Share #44 Posted July 14, 2010 What is point of having headquarters in depot? Aside from the aforementioned reason, it's good to have headquarters where the action is so you know what's needed/ect.

Calvin Posted July 14, 2010 Share #46 Posted July 14, 2010 Questions to busfanners: 1.Do u kno anything why CP and LGA switched routes like CP: Q19 and Q38 LGA:Q67, Q100, Q101, Q102, Q103, Q104 2. In Fall 2009, why does the QBx1 needs to go to Eastchester Depot??

I Blame the MTA for messing up those ex-bee line buses, BP should have gotten more RTS instead of the ex-bee line buses or gotten more OG's or New NG's, and gave those Orions to Far Rockaway and JFK. BP has tons of RTS parts and No orion Parts, It made no sence to give them those Orions, I liked 413 and 244 way better than these ex-bee line buses. This is because the route is being split in two, and ECH will operate the route as the Bx23.
