LRG Posted July 11, 2010 Share #4 Posted July 11, 2010 32 active cars, but not all needed for service. No word on the last run. Yep, the most you'd see on the road at any given time is three sets. That's what I witnessed this past Tuesday.

mark1447 Posted July 12, 2010 Author Share #10 Posted July 12, 2010 R44s run on the only. Not just the , but the Rkway + SIRT However, the R44 (A)/(S) are being replaced by the R46. The R44 SIRTOAs are sticking for a few more years and already got its SMS. The thing i don't like about the R44SIRTOA is just the propulsion sounding like an R46. MTR Admiralty Posted July 12, 2010 Share #18 Posted July 12, 2010 I'm pretty "lucky" with the R44s. It doesn't take too long for me to spot one. Yes, it has a grey stripe, so I did not confuse it with a R46.

Grand Concourse Posted July 13, 2010 Share #20 Posted July 13, 2010 I knew their days were numbered when the was getting replaced by the and the R46s moving to the . That's why I didn't take any chances and fanned the for the r44s on June 25th. That day I saw at least 4 sets on the and one on the . It was worth it. I don't think I have the time to camp out at an area to wait for one to show up.
bklyntekgeek Posted July 14, 2010 Share #21 Posted July 14, 2010 Yeah and today I was on an R-46 that sounded like an R-44 with the motor sounds. It was the signature Whirring sound you would hear on some R-44's and R-68's. Wonder if they used some of the R-44 parts for the R-46's after they were transferred to Pitkin and 207.
