Verizon Wireless was created in July 2000 AD when Bell Atlantic (formerly New Jersey Bell and New York Telephone And Telegraph), AirTouch, GTE, and Vodafone merged together. Two way text messaging began in 2001. While I can't evaulate Verizon's home telephone or high speed internet service, their cellular telephone and broadband internet service is good and they publish a nice Yellow Pages directory.
