From what i heard, 8313-8376 are on the L for CBTC but now the Nassau St Line has 8377-8652 and 9943-9974 which makes the fleet less.

Why did mostly R160A-1s go to the L and can they go back to the L (ex.let 32 R160A-1s be CBTC on the L and the remaing on the Nassau Line)

Oy vey

How many times must we go through this. 8313-8376 aren't just for the (L). Its used most of the time on the (L) since there isn't enough R143s and since the whole line is CBTC/ATO equipped. But also at the same time, those same cars can and have been used on the (J)(M)(Z) since those cars belong to ENY. 8377-8652 & 9943-9974 is more than enough cars for the (J)(M)(Z) combined and since the R42 is still clinging to life for the (J)(Z) that makes even more cars for all the lines there

Yes, they're continuing with CBTC, regardless of recent events. Keep in mind that this was not a cheap project that can be tossed out wantonly; you can be sure they're going to make this work, even if there are some technical hiccups.

even though R160A-1s are not CBTC, can the also use 84xx, 85xx and 86xx R160A-1s?

8313-8376 are the only R160s that have CBTC. Whenever the (L) uses an R160, its gonna automatically be 8313-8376. Nothing else
