Maybe the NOVA's should've came with the back door swing like a RTS front door..everybody will be happy.

No. They would have likely been even worse. Those door are expressly against MTA specs. The slide-glide doors were standard on the RTS. Like the rear doors on the NJT RTS. The TA doesn't want these kind of doors after people used to hang (swing) on the rear ones of the RTS demo.

Look how old they are! That's why they are struggling. They don't need a rebuild. All they need is a good overhaul, and to be re-engined, and they will be just fine. They may be the worse performing, but they were the best batch.

Huh? Why are you contracting yourself. They are the worse performers from the start and still is today. Rebuilding them would have been a good option if they were 6 to 8 years old.

It is too late for the older artics...Why waste more money to overhaul them when their performance is still the same.

You mean contradicting?? How are they performing badly other than the a lack of power because they are old? And if a bus needs a rebuild after 6-8 years, there is a serious problem.

Its called a mid life rebuild, lots of transit agencies have that program to extend the bus useful life. The current buses are designed to be built with in 12 years as a "nationwide standard" service. Buses dont last very long on operating conditions in the city. MTA Bus Operations made a report about it with lots of tests. The outlook is very bleak for the New Flyers artics getting into 12 year mark before it collapses due to the duty cycle and their performance. More then 40 of the older New Flyer artic buses are already retired. MTA seriously is not going to waste more money for over 12 years old to get more life on them since there performance fell further when it ages more.

The buses right now arent like in the 60's, 70's or even 80's where they are running 20+ years old with sub-par performance.

You squeeze some more life to it then it becomes like the ex-Bee Line Orion Vs running in LGA and BP, just in 1 year, it went to shit. You do not want to ride a dog struggling to get to your destination?
