How come Brooklyn depots get no LFS? Would like to see them on South Brooklyn lines.

Same with UP and ENY that gave up their LFS', the BK depots cannot get the LFS' due to mileage purposes/proposals(besides durability). Brooklyn is one of the shortest boroughs that don't have the big corridors(spaced out widths), so those Xcelsiors they have are deemed better for the stop/go process.

My understanding was that it's a parts/training reason. It's easier and cheaper to have everyone trained on one bus instead of two, creating the misc pockets on just one model around the city.

XDs hold more people... the LFS doesn’t... Brooklyn depots wouldn’t be good for LFS because of that issue

Queens and Staten Island terrain wise are setup better for LFS... the Bronx can handle anything

Manhattan simply because it’s just too dense.. LFSA’s outside of Crosstown Routes don’t work

M15SBS is a prime example of why they don’t work... it’s killing the 1200s right now. XD60s would do the route much better in the long run

Has nothing to do with training. Quill had 9 different bus models when the XDE’s were there.

It’s all about parts and logistics. When you group buses together you save on parts and maintenance costs by having common buses at a Depot. You don’t need to stock as many parts, have as many training procedures

This is 100% false. Every single word of it. Did you just make this shit up as you typed it? Smfh. You really need to stop with the inaccurate information like right now. This is NOT the first time and you are now starting to piss me off royally. What the heck does the width of some street or lack there of have to do with where the buses are assigned. Every heavy-duty transit in America (as well as express buses) are now offered in 102 inch widths ONLY.

Not sure why some of you continue to think that some buses are wider than others when they are ALL the same, and have been here in NY since before you were born.

This is your FINAL warning, and I am most certain you do NOT want to take me to the next level.

See above. Overall, Brooklyn doesn’t want them and when I submitted my maintenance proposal to MTA they decided my plan was best and would be implemented immediately. Many people don’t like the way it has gone, but it makes sense for more reasons than one. That is why CS and FB lost and are looking the LFSA’s for XD60’s. Now they will have a common fleet that shared common parts.

Operators did not like the visibility, hence MTA basically forcing Nova to come out with a new model or risk loosing orders. Many ops however continue to complain about visibility in the curbside of the bus.

To a lesser extent, The LFS does not hold as many people as an Xcelsior which was also mentioned above. It was deemed that they would not be good for routes like the B6, which has remained heavily RTS even after all the Xcelsiors have come in. Another reason MTA worked with nova to change the seating arrangement and add more capacity.

The LFSA’s will be left where they are and there will be small overlaps as the years go on and NFI equipment outnumbers Nova equipment. For example you have a Depot like JA that has a split fleet.

When the hybrids come in, assignments for those too will be based on the type selected. The order will either be for all XDE40, or split with a few LFS Hybrids in there.

If it goes all New Flyer, KB, GH, And QV will also become split ops depots. If it is a split award (that by the way is now in final deception and due at the end of this month) the assignments will be similar to what they are now.

SI will be the only division that will not get any. They will transition straight into electric, and dual Artic/electric duty-cycle testing will begin in SI soon after all the XE60’s are delivered and integrated into the system.

***NOTICE TO ALL Members/Users

This is NOT a fleet discussion thread. The staff here has continued to ask you all over and over again to move these discussions to  Fleet and Depots if they are fleet questions, or Random Bus Thoughts if they are just general statements.

Effective immediately, I’m going back to deleting posts from this thread, so if you don’t see it and it wasn’t moved then it was removed. Newer member get a pass, veteran member will now be suspended for a day. Do it again, 2 days... etc.....

Yeah....he's been shooting himself in the foot lately with this fake news, along with his claims of being an apprentice and an op.....

Not to mention, ENY and UP had LFSs and they ran just fine on the streets of Brooklyn....and also ran on various subway shuttles in Brooklyn without a problem. If the streets were really that much of a problem, Flatbush would've never gotten LFSAs.....These fans today man lol.

----------------------------------

5583 en route to Quill.
7782 at ENY.
8531 at QV.
6130, 6132, 6134-36, 38, 39, 40, 41, 44, 46, 47 at the vendor pending delivery.

-EDIT-

Awaiting confirmation, but it looks like 7785, 7791 and 7792 are at WF....and 7786 appears to be at Gun Hill.

Again, awaiting confirmation on the added moves....but the WF ones seems to be legit.

Just a slight edit to the info. 6130 and 6138 delivered to FB. Saw 6138 working the B44 on Saturday. Other than that everything else is good!
