If anybody is interested, 987 was actually doing (A) shuttle duty last night. Don't know about today though.... but she's still kickin'! B-)

Would the old C40s last to the summer? I really wanna catch one on the B43

The C40 order is done so the remaining units might just die after the (A) Shuttle is done.

Guest MTA Bus

The CP Orion V CNGs have been downgraded to rush hour service now.

if it wasn't for sandy and the need for the shuttle buses, would the older buses have been retired sooner or the new buses have been 'held up' a little longer till it was time to bump off the older buses?

I heard somewhere that the MTA is "keeping older buses past their service lives" because of Sandy, but I doubt that the new buses would have been affected.

Someone said the older buses cng tank certifications are going to expire soon. That's why unless they were to extend that or convert the buses to diesels, it wouldn't make sense to retire them too soon and keep them idle till the certification expires.

I saw that as well, threw me real well. But weirdly they're now registered at CP again, so that was short-lived...

The same driver had 9871 on Monday and Tuesday...run 24 on the Q53.

As for Sandy, that may be the only reason that buses like the renumbered O5s and C40LFs, O5 CNGs and old C40LFs in Brooklyn, remain. I suspect that the last C40LFs at WF will be retired once the repainting of the O7 CNGs is complete.

Well, now that you mention it, I did see 3153 two days ago passing by the Gateway Area in Spring Creek heading east on the Belt. Thought I was seeing things there....

9191 has been at LGA for a long time now... I rememer that bus clearly due to the stickers being messed up inside (Someone played with the number, instead of saying 9191 it says "191919", that crossed out and "91919 above it.

812 to Scrap/Storage, 859 only one left in service at WF.

Looks like either those Orion 7s at WF are almost done, or service is returning to normal after the hurricane...
