Daniel The Cool 3,771 Posted July 22, 2010 Share #1 Posted July 22, 2010 Can someone point out there's no switch south of of W 4th Street heading Southbound to 6th Avenue Express tracks to connect to Manhattan Bridge? Someone from here is keep annoying me saying it can connect to express tracks to resume to connect on Manhattan Bridge because of that Train G.O (Believing its possible to terminate the southbound at Broadway-Laf Street on the bronx bound side. Don't wanna mention names but please tell me if I'm right?

Don't wanna mention names but please tell me if I'm right? If you are referring to the upcoming G.O of the to 2nd Avenue. The train gets his last chance to switch at West 4th, the only switches south of that is the 8th Avenue Split, the cut & the 2nd Avenue switch. Only on the uptown side of the Broadway Lafayette Station does it have switches connecting to the local, however, thats only after it leaves Broadway Lafayette. If the runs via 6th Avenue Express heading downtown, its last switch before going over the bridge would be West 4th Street. The switches south of West 4th were removed a long time ago. Grand Concourse 2,690 Posted July 22, 2010 Share #4 Posted July 22, 2010 Oops, disregard my post below [i'm thinking of why there's no connections b/w the express lines at W4th]: My simple answer would be that it would've made the W4th overly complicated by adding the express tracks into the connections on top of the locals. The real question is why did they have the 6th Av lines run east onto Houston than to go strait down south to Chambers/WTC?
