East New York Posted January 11, 2011 Author Share #52 Posted January 11, 2011 I have always loved and admired New Flyer innovation. I remember the first time I rode a D40LF through the bus wash in the summer of '94. Then out on a run. I forgot whats an RTS was that day! They are the pioneers of 40 foot low floor buses. Two weeks after that, I rode my first D40HF. Both Detroit Diesels too! I was sold!
Melvin Posted January 11, 2011 Share #53 Posted January 11, 2011 I wonder if they gonna keep the seating arrangement in the back high floor section of the bus. It looks like more seating capacity when it's arranged like that.

WMATA Posted January 11, 2011 Share #56 Posted January 11, 2011 Nice catch ! West Farms and College Point will be getting C40LFRs. Here's an idea of what they'll look like: Those are awesome buses. My favorite in WMATA's fleet. New Flyer really does make great buses. Here's another "showing off" with a mean lean.

aemoreira81 Posted January 14, 2011 Share #64 Posted January 14, 2011 Does anyone know why the New Flyer logo on the front is covered? The MTA generally has a policy of not showing the manufacturer's name on the nose. However, the model name is clear on the sides because it is a demo. This goes back to at least the late 1970s. Bx41 Wakefield Posted July 2, 2011 Share #70 Posted July 2, 2011 I like this bus because it looks more like a high floor than a low floor IMO even though it is LF. I think this would be my new favorite 40 FTer.
East New York Posted July 2, 2011 Author Share #71 Posted July 2, 2011 Yes, the MTA ordered 90 of these coming later this year. Just to clear things up, the TA didn't order the one that was demo'd in the pictures. That was an XDE40 (hybrid). They are getting the XD40 (straight diesel). The original plan was for the XDE40, but that changed sometime last summer.
