EE Broadway Local 18 Posted July 26, 2010 Share #2 Posted July 26, 2010 The tornado touched down at 2:50 PM on Sunday (July 25th) in Riverdale and was seen in Co-Op City. With winds of 100 miles per hour (and excess) and seven injuries, it sounds like it was an F2 tornado. I wonder what might have happened if the tornado had touched down with winds of 130 miles per hour and hit the el between West 242d and West 238th Streets or had touched down with winds of 155 miles per hour and hit the el between Woodlawn and Mosholu Parkway...... Infamous85 13 Posted July 27, 2010 Share #5 Posted July 27, 2010 That's crazy, I didn't even know that happened. There were a series of Tornado Warnings over the past few days (minus today).
2 Train Master 85 Posted July 27, 2010 Share #6 Posted July 27, 2010 Yea that was crazy and scary so close to home.I live about 20-25min away from Riverdale. And that Co-op City "Tornado" vid was not the actual tornado they showed that vid on the news and they said that wasn't the actual tornado. Myrtle Local 0 Posted July 27, 2010 Share #7 Posted July 27, 2010 This caused a big service disruption Sunday afternoon for Amtrak since this tornado blew through the Pelham Bay area. Catenary was out in the area but restored quickly, then we had no signals from Queens to New Rochelle. 4 eastbound trains had to be held in Penn Station backing up everything and suspending LIRR for a brief amount of time. Big mess!

EE Broadway Local 18 Posted July 28, 2010 Share #9 Posted July 28, 2010 I dont think we`re in Kansas anymore. We're off to see the Wizard Of Oz in the Emerald City for some brains, a heart, a little courage, and a way back home?
