LIRR/Subway Bustitutions

I thought this would have gone better in the LI/MNRR forum, but their specialty is trains....

What happened before LIB got those MCIs and there were bustitutions? Did they really use just one 40 foot Orion V? Do they use the O7s for LIRR shuttle service?

And what about subway shuttles? Subway cars tend to get packed if it's a busy line, so do they send more than one bus out if that's the case?

I know most LIRR service only occurs between stations (not entire lines, I don't think daily LIRR commuters would like being on an Orion with hard seats for that long), but bustitutions are a peculiar event to me.

Yea, pretty much LIB used their regular O5s whenever service went out since that's all they had. I don't know if the O7s were ever used, but I wouldn't doubt it.

Subway shuttles depend on the line. Sometimes they send out one bus at a time, but they try to fill up multiple buses whenever a train discharges. It's also based on a special scheduling system, but someone more knowledgeable about the system will hopefully elaborate.
