How often does directionFAIL occur on your route?

How often does your route have directionFAIL. It occurs when bus operators either put in the wrong code or fail to switch signs running in the other direction thus having the destination listed as the terminal it came from. Here it the Bronx it doesn't happen that often but I do see it a lot on the Bx31 bus mostly with Woodlawn buses signed as Westchester Square bound buses.

I've seen B/Os program the destination sign to show that it's going to Jamaica when it's headed the other way on the N4.

Same with the N16 - a bus that said it was going to Baldwin was coming the other way and I had to ask if it was going to Hempstead or not. He was kind enough to say that the next bus would, but then I forgot to tell him about the sign.

There was also one N25 that I thought wasn't in service (you can recognize it on the sign easy with the LIB Orion Vs from '04 and any bus made after that), which pissed me off because I had a bad day - but then the bus pulled up to the stop and the operator asked if anyone was climbing on the N25 and I got on.

Common.

this is a systemwide thing that I think is somewhat overlooked by most b/o's....

When b/o's intentionally put up wrong route directions on their bus as they're deadheading or w/e, I get a chuckle out of that... One time I was waiting for a B46 on flatlands... there was a MCI signed as Bx13 Yankee Std... I looked up... then looked again, then *smh* & laughed (I kinda, made sure he saw me)... the b/o waved his finger at me, and had a smile on his face... We both knew what was up...

far as wrong destination sign readings on in-service buses...

You know, it's somethin that can be annoying at times... especially if you're in a rush, in an area you're not as familiar with... but it's not somethin I'm gonna get after (well, not get after, but give a hard time to) b/o's that don't change signs accordingly... b/c I realize it's not done with any intent or malice behind it... it's one of those things that's forgotten about, during the course of everything else I can only imagine a b/o is responsible for...

I think many times, drivers simply forget to change their signs. It isn't a problem if I already know where I'm going, but I can't imagine what it's like for a newcomer. Most drivers will change it if you point it out to them.
