Recommended Posts

Get this: The huge 3D Express Bus will be six (6) meters wide and will be able to DRIVE OVER cars two (2) meters high and less. It will be powered by a combination of electricity and solar energy. Each bus will be able to carry 1,200 to 1,400 passengers at up to 60 kilometers per hour.

Check out the pics of the express bus here: http://news.yahoo.com/s/huffpost/669166

The 3D Express Buses do travel on tracks. Late this year the first 115 miles of track will be constructed in Beijing's Mentougou District and if the estimate is accurate, 3D Express Service should start by the beginning of 2012.

Wow! China is years and years ahead of us!

This monstrosity isn't progress. Yes, I'm positive every bus operator thought it would be cool to just drive over the cars in front of them instead of sitting in traffic, but this......bus creates a huge liability issue for anyone who even dares to operate it (I would personally be scared shit-less if something like this drove over my car).

The problem with trucks driving under it is a non-issue. I'm sure if I were a truck driver I would stay the **** away with the bus lanes, if those things were around.

Faster trains. Taller buildings. More futuristic modes of transportation!

Palm trees in China? Looks like Miami to me.

Seriously, that thing does look scary. Maybe it has a way of coming to an automatic stop for something too tall (truck) in front of it.

So nobody thinks of this as a possible other alternative to SBS as a replacement for the Manhattan els?

It's like basically an el with moving columns; i.e. the columns are attached to each car, running on a ground trackway, rather than holding up an elevated trackway.
