polisciprof Posted August 9, 2010 Share #1 Posted August 9, 2010 Hi, I am a new member. I joined this list because I am very concerned about the latest round of budget cuts and the future of LI Bus. I teach in Nassau County and depend on both the LIRR and LI Bus to get to work four days a week. Not only is public transportation an important issue to me personally, but I know many students also depend on LI Bus to get to and from the college. I am increasingly concerned about the political climate in Nassau County as well and the hostility I am sensing to public services and jobs from the new County Executive. I am a public employee of Nassau County and feel very strongly that public transportation should not be privatized. I hope to become better informed about the MTA and LI Bus from this forum and look forward to discussions about these, and other, issues. Thank you.
