This thread should be a discussion about SKYSCRAPERS!!. They are a huge interest of mine and one of the reasons why I like big cities so much. I like my skyscrapers tall and with a lot of occupiable floors so Burj Khalifa is my favorite skyscraper at this point. I also admire Taipei 101 and Shanghai World Financial Center. Feel free to post info about your favorite skyscrapers, interesting proposed skyscrapers, discuss the cities with the best skylines and the all important World's Tallest Building race.

Burj Khalifa is the best but my favorite is the Shard London Bridge.

 

The Shard is a supertall skyscraper under construction in Southwark, London, United Kingdom. When completed in 2012 it will be the tallest building in the European Union.

 

 

It is replacing Southwark Towers, a 24-story office building which was completed in 1976. The tower will stand at 310 m (1,017 ft) tall and have 72 floors, plus 15 further radiator floors in the roof.

My favorite skyscraper - New York's Flatiron Building! Formerly known as the Fuller Building when completed in 1902 at 175 Fifth Avenue, this skyscraper features uniquely shaped "point" offices. To reach the top floor, a second elevator is taken from the 20th floor.

Agreed. The Freedom Tower design sucks. Wish they'd just scrap it already.

 

They should've built it the same way. People recognize the old WTC more. At least when its done (whenever that is now) it'll be the 2nd tallest building on Earth at 1,776 ft tall

The new towers will look much nicer. But I just wished it wasn't capped at that 'symbolic' number. They had a chance to build the tallest [at least in the US], they should've built it taller. Stupid Pataki.

Some of these people are cheating. Towers shouldn't count as buildings. Only FUNCTIONAL buildings should count when deciding which building is the tallest.

There's technically different criteria and categories. So towers would count as 'structures'.
