rr4567 173 Posted August 13, 2010 Share #1 Posted August 13, 2010 *Driver emerges from restroom whistling a tune to himself, greeted by an empty stretch of track.* Oh..........bollocks B) ___________________________________________________________________ A runaway train went through six stops on a 13-minute journey on London's Tube with other trains having to be cleared out of its path. The engineering train became uncoupled as it was towed on the Northern Line near Archway station on Friday morning. Passenger trains were diverted to another branch of the Northern Line while trains were cleared from the Charing Cross branch. The train ran for nearly four miles before it stopped at Warren Street. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-10964766

Amtrak7 427 Posted August 15, 2010 Share #4 Posted August 15, 2010 This reminds me of the incident when CSXT 8888 rolled down a hill in Ohio, with the independent brakes on, down the mainline, and past other freight trains. It was not until an employee jumped on the loco at a grade crossing and stopped it. The brake shoes were worn down to the metal. metsfan 2 Posted August 15, 2010 Share #5 Posted August 15, 2010 I suspect exuberant expedience to the WC has a role in this. - A
