The R3 (West Trenton Line), R5 (Paoli-Thorndale Line) and the R6 (Norristown Line) are pretty good scenic routes to railfan as far as Regional Rail goes.

 

Front and Kensington is a bit dangerous if you ask me. A bus driver driving a route a few blocks north got assaulted violently a few months ago.

 

West Philly is not too bad, but the areas surrounding a 3 to 5-block radius of the route G bus can be a nightmare at certain times of the day.
