East New York 4,103 Posted March 22, 2008 Share #1 Posted March 22, 2008 It's never been a more exciting time to be a fan of The(MTA) New York City Transit! We already know the basic details about the new Charleston Depot to be built off the south shore of Staten Island. So lets move along! *Jamaica Depot to be replaced. *Castleton Depot to be either replaced, re-habbed, or re-built. *126 St Depot to be Demolished, and rebuilt. NYCT currently has 46 washers, and 20 paint booths spread throughout the system. They plan to add more, as well as revitalize current depots and depot equipment. Brighton Local 703 Posted March 22, 2008 Share #3 Posted March 22, 2008 They've been talking about Charleston for years. I hope they do it.. If not, Lets get Edgewater Depot back up and running:D. Edgewater used to be a depot in Staten Island, right off Bay St, near the Staten Island Railway Clifton Station. The depot was located right on the water; hence, absorbing information that one of the Depot's piers collapsed some decades ago, and some buses fell into the Water:p

When charleston depot is built, will that replace castleton or where there be 3 depots once that is built.

Brighton Local 703 Posted March 23, 2008 Share #6 Posted March 23, 2008 To my Vast knowledge off New York City Transit, its been said that the Charleston Depot will become Staten Island's THIRD Bus Depot. I was never under the assumption that Castleton will be replaced, but hey, its the , and they're going our way.. to the extent............. East New York 4,103 Posted March 23, 2008 Author Share #7 Posted March 23, 2008 Charleston will be the third, but Casleton is suppose to be either re-built, re-habbed or replaced.
B35 via Church 10,303 Posted March 23, 2008 Share #8 Posted March 23, 2008 I don't think Castleton is going anywhere... probably will be re-built.... now Jamaica, yeah, that depot needs to be elsewhere... long been over-past-due... no sense in trying to demolish & rebuild that depot... what's the deal with 126th; why is that depot set to be rebuilt? from what I been hearing, Charleston is supposed to be a depot only housing the MCI's (the express routes)... is there any truth to this ??? DOB2RTO 29 Posted March 23, 2008 Share #9 Posted March 23, 2008 what's the deal with 126th; why is that depot set to be rebuilt? They want to build a bigger depot, so the buses don't have to be parked at 3 different spots, and on the streets. All they have to do is build up, like 100st depot.
