TML Posted January 10, 2011 Share #126 Posted January 10, 2011 About 6 years ago I heard that a route called N75 which would travel from Hempstead to Syosset was in planning stages, but there's been no recent information on this plan. However, I do think Syosset needs bus service. I would call for an N75 bus which initially follows the N35 routing to Roosevelt Field, then the N78/79 routing to the Hicksville LIRR station, followed by the N48/49 routing to Jericho Turnpike before branching off on its own by turning East onto Jericho Turnpike and North onto South Oyster Bay Road before terminating at the Syosset train station. Bus stops east/north of Routes 106/107 would be as follows: Jericho Turnpike & Merry Lane Jericho Turnpike & Manors Drive Jericho Turnpike & Marian Lane/Old Jericho Turnpike Jericho Turnpike & Robbins Lane/Heather Lane Jericho Turnpike & Eileen Way (Stone Hill at Muttontown) Jericho Turnpike & Michael Drive/Saddle Lane Jericho Turnpike & Oak Drive/Pond View Drive Jericho Turnpike & Underhill Boulevard/Haskett Drive Jericho Turnpike & Lafayette Drive/Greenfield Road (Syosset Hospital) Jericho Turnpike & Burke Lane Jericho Turnpike & Humphrey Drive/Bruce Street Jericho Turnpike & Jackson Avenue Jackson Avenue & Edward Avenue/Hillside Lane Jackson Avenue & Dawes Avenue/The Mall Jackson Avenue & Lewis Lane/Pine Road Jackson Avenue & Telbrook Avenue/Lucille Drive Jackson Avenue & Willis Avenue/Covenant Road Jackson Avenue & Underhill Road (LIRR Syosset) To complement this service, I have also come up with an N76 route which would follow the N75 routing above except between Hicksville and Syosset, where it would follow Woodbury Road & South Oyster Bay Road before reaching the Syosset train station. Bus stops in this segment would be as follows: East Barclay Street & South Broadway East Barclay Street/Woodbury Road & Bay Avenue Woodbury Road & Max Avenue Woodbury Road & Bethpage Road Woodbury Road & Vincent Road/Elm Street Woodbury Road & Briggs Street/Cedar Street Woodbury Road & Ketcham Road/Ardsley Gate Woodbury Road & Liszt Street/Haverford Road Woodbury Road & South Oyster Bay Road South Oyster Bay Road & Garden Street South Oyster Bay Road & Market Drive (Northbound) South Oyster Bay Road & Plaza Gate (Southbound) South Oyster Bay Road & Parkway Drive (Northbound) South Oyster Bay Road & Birchwood Park Drive South Oyster Bay Road & Avon Court/Keen Gate South Oyster Bay Road & Terrehans Lane (Syosset Public Library) South Oyster Bay Road & South Parkfield Court/Jeffrey Court South Oyster Bay Road & Marta Lane South Oyster Bay Road & Parkfield Court/Hicks Avenue South Oyster Bay Road & Robert Street/Center Gate South Oyster Bay Road & James Street/North Gate South Oyster Bay Road/Jackson Avenue & Jericho Turnpike

FamousNYLover Posted January 11, 2011 Share #130 Posted January 11, 2011 I remember one time when I was on (M60), some folk were asking B/O how to get to Rikers Island from Harlem. M36: Rikers Island bus Follows M35 route to RFK, then M60 to 31st St, then goes non-stop via 31st St to Rikers Island Stop.
FamousNYLover Posted January 11, 2011 Share #131 Posted January 11, 2011 (edited) To help NY Mets fan to help reach METS Game, I found another idea. Bx54 Shuttle (Operated by (NYCT) or Bus): Begins at Pelham Bay Park Orchard Beach Pickup, then makes same stop as Q50 to Flushing-Main St, then non-stop to CitiField Parking Lot, then layover at Casey Stengel Depot. Route: Follows Q50 and Q48 bus routing. During game days, additional Q50 bus service provided between Pelham Bay Park and CitiField via Flushing-Main St. This bus will serve Q48 bus stop bet College Point Blvd & Mets-Willets Point. In addition, special Q48 bus service between LGA & Mets-Willets Point operate overnight if game ends late night. RTS CNG Command Posted January 12, 2011 Share #132 Posted January 12, 2011 This idea came into my head recently. The B32: A local route to compensate the Q24's and old B40's Broadway branches and the B12's and old B40's Liberty Avenue branches. This route would go from the Williamsberg Bridge Plaza to Sheridan Avenue in Cypress Hills. The route would go like this: Westbound: a. Leave the Sheridan Avenue terminal and head down Liberty Av. b. Turn on ENY Av. to B'way Jct. c. Turn on Broadway. d. Continue down Broadway to Bridge Plaza. Eastbound: a. Down Broadway to Broadway Junction. b. Turn on Pacific St. c. Turn on Sackman St. d. Turn on ENY Av. e. Turn on Liberty Av. f. Turn on Autumn Av. g. Turn on Glenmore Av. h. Turn on Sheridan Av. to its terminal.
aemoreira81 Posted January 13, 2011 Share #133 Posted January 13, 2011 Expanding on TML's idea: My route idea would be the N44, Hempstead-Walt Whitman Mall via Clinton Road, Roosevelt Raceway, New Cassel, and Jericho Turnpike. The route would follow the N35 to Roosevelt Field, then operate via Zeckendorf Boulevard, Corporate Drive, and Merchants Concourse to provide service to the Roosevelt Raceway shopping area, then follow the N35 into Westbury, where the N77 would follow the N22 to Hicksville, reverse-looping near the train station to face northbound on Newbridge Road. The N77 would then run north on Broadway to Jericho Turnpike, travel east on Jericho Turnpike into Syosset, into Crossways Park, and then on to Walt Whitman Mall. Service would be 6 AM to 9 PM on weekdays and 8 AM to 6 PM on Saturdays, with no Sunday service (aiming for hourly service). During the rush hours, an additional bus would run Hicksville to Crossways only. The N79 would also be adjusted so that the N79 and N44 each served Walt Whitman Mall every other hour; alternating N79s would end at Manetto Hill Road and Woodbury Road and alternating N44s would end at Crossways (Jericho and Woodland Gate on Saturdays). There would be interlining (i.e., an N79 entering Whitman Mall would leave as an N44). Some N22s would not travel east of Roosevelt Field, but between Hicksville and Westbury, 30-minute service would be maintained. To maintain further cost neutrality, the N19 would have the number of trips that travel to Suffolk County reduced (and eliminated on Sundays). That area along Jericho Turnpike is an untapped market that I see, as TML does too. I would have wanted to serve Syosset RR, but could not find a suitable routing that also served Crossways. Where I differ from TML, however, is that I don't feel that Old Country Road east of Roosevelt Field warrants a third bus route, but Roosevelt Raceway Mall is also underserved with only the N43 serving it, which is why I would send it via Corporate Drive and New Cassel instead of straight up Old Country Road.
aemoreira81 Posted January 13, 2011 Share #134 Posted January 13, 2011 Another route I would create would be the S45, running the following route between the St. George Ferry Terminal and the Jersey Gardens and IKEA Elizabeth, hourly: Leaving the Ferry, follow the S46 route to Port Richmond Avenue. Then, south on Port Richmond Avenue to Walker Street, across Walker Street to Morningstar Road, south on Morningstar to Forest Avenue, west on Forest to the Goethals, and over the Goethals and via the NJ Turnpike to Jersey Gardens Mall first, then to IKEA. Layover at IKEA. The S45 would not carry customers between IKEA and Jersey Gardens (use the NJT #40 or #111 instead).

checkmatechamp13 Posted January 17, 2011 Share #136 Posted January 17, 2011 This idea came into my head recently. Leave the Sheridan Avenue terminal and head down Liberty Av. b. Turn on ENY Av. e. Turn on Liberty Av. f. Turn on Autumn Av. g. Turn on Glenmore Av. h. Turn on Sheridan Av. to its terminal. As B35 via Church said before, that route would perform terribly. You would be combining a low-ridership portion of the B12 with a low-ridership portion of the Q24, and having it duplicate the subway to boot. Another route I would create would be the S45, running the following route between the St. I think it would be better off going straight down Forest Avenue, giving the S48 sister route (like the S44/S59 or S78/S79) for a significant distance. The S48 is more well-used than the S46 for the most part. South Shore-Newark AirportX33: Follows X23 route to NJ Turnpike, then non-stop to Newark Airport. Staten Island Pickup outbound to NJ and Drop-Off Inbound: X23 Stops Drop Off Outbound/Pickup Inbound: GoBus#28 Stop. Idea: Staten Island riders will have one seat ride to Newark Airport I think a better, less circuituous idea to serve the South Shore would be to have it start from the Eltingville Transit Center, go down Drumgoogle Road, and go up Huguenot Avenue to the WSE. The X23 is just too circuituous.

B35 via Church Posted March 12, 2011 Share #150 Posted March 12, 2011 M36 Rikers Island via Randall's/Ward's Island Loop. **MAP*** this is some kinda strange combination of the Q100 & the M35... I know this is all about creativity, but who would this route even attract... lol....
