Again why is there need for all of this?Run the (3) or (4) at larger headways so both the (3) and (4) can terminate at Utica. The (5) people should not have to suffer because of this.Anyone agree?

They're most likely single-tracking between Utica and New Lots on the (3), and cutting the (4) back to Atlantic to ease switching operations.

That's usually how it works. They can't really turn the (3) and (4) running both at 8-minute headways at Utica because trying to get the (3) to the relay will cause problems definitely if it has to interact with the (4). Add that to the fact you only have one track available at Utica uptown to dispatch both (3) and (4) trains, and if a problem happens, you're asking for trouble. I guess this way works the best, it has in the past.

The (4) always gets precedence when it comes to these reroutes since it runs into Brooklyn all times, whereas the (5) only runs to Flatbush during the rush hours and middays.
