From wikipedia:

P (short for Penn Station) was planned for a nonstop between Sutphin Boulevard – Archer Ave (at the LIRR's Jamaica station) and 34th Street – Penn Station, continuing locally to 168th Street, via the BMT Archer Avenue Line, BMT Jamaica Line, Chrystie Street Connection, IND Sixth Avenue Line and IND Eighth Avenue Line (switching to the latter at West Fourth Street) in the 1990's. This would have been used during a threatened Amtrak strike that would have prevented LIRR trains from entering Penn Station.

I guess the letter just stuck.

If This Happens, They will use R32's from 207th, there are the only Trains with the (P) sign, If this does happen, This would be something different and odd. Yeah this is going to happen:

This Is Going To Be FU*&^KING COOL!!!!!!!!!

Not necessarily, the 160s can be programmed easily for a (P) on the LEDs/FINDs and if possible use auto/manual station announcements.

Example of auto/manual announcements:

The conductor explains to where they are going and then they could program the train to say "The next stop is 34th Street-Penn Station" or "The next stop is Sutphin Boulevard", also "Stand clear of the closing doors, please."

Queens Blvd is more delay-prone than the Jamaica El.

But there are delays at Myrtle Avenue, the Willy B (big issue if the train runs with a high frequency), Chrystie Street, and West 4 Street (a major congestion point for trains going from 6 to 8 Av). Also, the Jamaica El does not have an express track.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Jamaica Ctr (E) level can't handle more than 12 TPH. Therefore, adding more (E) trains won't help LIRR passengers since some of those trains would have to go to 179 St.

True. However, can the lower level handle more than 12TPH? In addition, those 179 St trains WOULD help LIRR customers as they would take people off the (E)s that go to Jamaica Center.

But that would defeat the purpose of the non-stop shuttle between Sutphin-Archer and Penn Station. If riders want to go anywhere else, they would take the subway from Jamaica Station.

The problem with routing it via the (E) to WTC or LES is that the shuttle will be running in tandem with two or more other subway lines (the (E), (F) and (R) on Queens Blvd; the (A), (C) and (E) on 8th Ave proper) the entire run, whereas on the Jamaica El, it will only run with the (J) on Broadway and the (F) between Chrystie St and W 4 St. Of course it will still have to run with 8th Ave services, but that can't avoided.

This would be so nice if they had the middle tracks on Jamaica Av and a 'bypass' along Jamaica Av b/w Cypress Hills and Alabama Av.

Hindsight is always 20-20.
