RhythmNBlues 8 Posted September 15, 2010 Share #1 Posted September 15, 2010 Why is it that whenever it rains outside or even sometimes when it snows, yes SNOWS, the driver puts the air conditioning on FULL BLAST??? That is so uncomfortable and when I'm on a bus for over 30 minutes, I'm shivering!! Why must passengers be subjected to this nonsense? Don't the drivers feel it too??? One driver recently had this going on and he was wearing shorts with a short sleeve uniform shirt!! It was recently a rainy night, 62 degrees and I was shivering to death, lucky I didn't get sick!! What's the deal with this???:tdown::tdown::tdown::tdown:
Noflexdont 75 Posted September 15, 2010 Share #2 Posted September 15, 2010 Climate control must stay on for sanitary reasons (filters air). As far as the Temp it control all by computers. Operator can either have it on or off. Having it off can result in a violation.
Joel Up Front 793 Posted September 15, 2010 Share #3 Posted September 15, 2010 I know LI's O7 NG CNGs have HVAC on at all times, but I've heard the A/C fan cycle on and off..
St Louis Car 09 22 Posted September 15, 2010 Share #4 Posted September 15, 2010 Also sometimes like any AC unit,it would blow out the opposite.Like in the winter time it might start off cold before it warms up and vice versa.

The whole thing is stupid if you ask me. They say it's not sanitary and that may be true, I get the whole filter thing...but they need to do that on their own time. Clean the buses out somehow without compromising the health and comfort of the rider. After all, that's what it's all about. And as for AC on the bus, there needs to be a better thermostat for different kinds of weather. One switch (on at 40 degrees and off at zero) doesn't cut it and is WAYYYYY outdated if you ask me. Infamous85 13 Posted September 15, 2010 Share #8 Posted September 15, 2010 I got pneumonia once (During SUMMER) because of the constant cold air. Spending 2 hours a day in a freezer with periods of oven (Summer heat) while waiting at bus stops isn't good. I bring a jacket almost everytime I have to take the bus now. It feels good for the first 5 minutes but after that I need to be next to a window blowing heat inside. What's the usual temperature inside the buses with AC on blast? Joel Up Front 793 Posted September 16, 2010 Share #9 Posted September 16, 2010 This is also why I still love the O5s. They never had that problem. If it got too hot or cold, the operator would more often than not leave a hatch open or open all of one side's windows. You can't even REACH the hatches on the O7s. IT's the way these buses are set up......even on the RTS, temperatures are set to reach 72 degrees whether hot or cold outside....so even if it's 62 degrees out, if the inside temp is about 72 degrees, the Cold air will blow. Now it's supposed to switch over once 72 degrees hit, but the whole system is so jacked up that most of the time it doesn't switch!
SoSpectacular 771 Posted September 16, 2010 Share #11 Posted September 16, 2010 Heh, and I thought I was the only one who thought that having the AC on in 60-degree temps was pretty annoying...
