Do any local bus routes actually use the highways

or do they just stick to the service roads, if they have any?

I noticed that on route maps, some roads would be labeled a major thruway (i.e. Van Wyck, New England Thruway, etc.) but I don't know of any local routes that do.

Q58 LIE service road.

(MTA):

Brooklyn that I know:

B83 Belt Parkway (on Mall extention) was very first.

B103 Prospect Expressway- Labor Day (1st Sunday run), very quick.

Bronx:

Bx12, Bx12(+) uses I-95.

Bx36 use portion of Cross Bronx Expressway.

Manhattan:

M9/M16/M23/M34/M42/M50 use FDR Drive Service Rd

M20 uses West Side Highway/West St

M98 use Harlem River Drive

Queens:

Q44/Q50 use I-95 with Q44 use Cross Bronx Expressway also.

Long Island Bus:

N88 use portion of highway to cross bridge (forgot name of highway)

The Q5 and Q85 uses Sunrise Highway

Aren't they (along with the N1, N2, N3, & N8) no longer permitted to stop at the bus stop next to Target because it's considered a highway?

For some reason I remember earlier this year seeing a paper or something saying so but idk.

The Q5 and Q85 uses Sunrise Highway

...and the Bx35 uses Edward Grant Highway

...and the B7 uses Kings Highway

lol...

seriously now...

-------------------

anyway, as was said, the M98 & the B103 are the answers most relevant to the OP's question....

I'm not gonna list routes that run in westchester, nassau, & suffolk...

judging by how the initial post was worded, looks as if he's only asking about local routes based out of the boroughs.....

We both should know that the N3 was dying long before 2010...

People just take buses to Roosevelt Field these days because it's a much better mall...

Those routes don't stop on Sunrise Hwy period. It was around last year this was implemented

In reply to Joel's thread title, I wish SI non-express buses used SI's highways.

I have ideas for SI non-express bus routes that would do just that.

And what to do & where to go when SI's highways get clogged.

Glad to see non-express bus routes in other counties in MTA territory use highways.
