Quill Depot Posted July 24, 2012 Share #414 Posted July 24, 2012 I love the stencil letters on the Track 4 sign. Did the R40's and R40M's use the same bullet rollsign.

Brighton Express Posted August 20, 2012 Share #421 Posted August 20, 2012 Well they are gone now, but look at this R44 in service. Notice anything?
The Tram man Posted August 20, 2012 Share #422 Posted August 20, 2012 I see a very different route sign. Why?
Brighton Express Posted August 20, 2012 Share #423 Posted August 20, 2012 Since the R32 had been updated with flipdot, they began to test it for service on the R44. It never came through though.
Guest Lance Posted August 20, 2012 Share #424 Posted August 20, 2012 The probable reason the flipdot side signs didn't expand fleet-wise was that, unlike the bulkhead flipdots on the 32s and 38s that are lit up from the bottom casing, these ones on this 44 set weren't lit up. They'd be nearly impossible to see the signs in the dark.
