DJ MC Posted November 27, 2012 Share #430 Posted November 27, 2012 I dont know if anyone remembers this, but look at this: The attempt to rebuilt the R10 and R16 cars using R42 front ends and adding A/C. Wish it was successful.
Guest Lance Posted November 28, 2012 Share #431 Posted November 28, 2012 As do I. That would've been one hell of a marriage between a classic and the then-new design, even if they probably would not have still been in service today.

DJ MC Posted September 21, 2013 Share #445 Posted September 21, 2013 (edited) Let's bring this thread back. The pictures were taken by Frank Pfuhler. These shots were taken on August 14th, 1955 at Westchester yard. The R17s were not in regular passenger service until October 10th, 1955 on the Pelham line. Until then, the Hi-Vs and Lo-Vs were the only trains running the Pelham line. Edited September 21, 2013 by DJ MC

Guest Lance Posted October 20, 2013 Share #448 Posted October 20, 2013 What's with the Grey J bullet? Never seen that before... It was the color used until 1979. Technically, it, like the 5 and B, was colored black on the maps, but they all used grey bullets, presumably for clarity.
